The audio tour in Gough's cave is very informative, as is the projector show in Cox's cave, if a little outdated too. They are both reasonably priced and a reasonable experience, in terms of time spent within the caves. The caves, however, are the highlight of this area. If you are expecting to go there and find anything more than pub-style comfort food, you may be disappointed, just as a heads up. The only downside about Cheddar itself is that it is quite "oldy-worldy", which fits the theme of the area, however the infrastructure is a bit dated, in terms of choice for food. You may expect the narrow pass to be nothing short of a wind tunnel, however the windiest parts are actually on the Clifftop Walk itself, which is no bad thing considering the strenuous task itself. Walking towards and in/around the gorge you will often find a multitude of rare, expensive or stylish cars and motorbikes, as the route around the gorge is a spectacle in itself for motor enthusiasts.Īnother thing to note is how calm the air is, in terms of wind.

There is plenty of parking in the gorge itself, from paid parking spaces nearer the caves and unmarked, free parking further from the main attractions, requiring a 10-15 minute walk through the gorge to find the sights to see. There are two entrances into the gorge, from the north, which is longer but more scenic or through the village of Cheddar, which is your quintessentially cosy English settlement. Upon approaching the gorge you are met with sheer cliffs surrounded by forestland.
